What do you think about horsemanship? Do you think it stress horses or it helps with communication?
It helps make the bond between a horse and rider stronger, but it can stress the horse if you don't break down the training methods so the horse understands it.
What are your opinions on Annie from Bratayley getting Luna and starting to ride Luna? (a 3yr old green mare) (Annie is also a green rider)
I knew it was wrong from the beginning. She is too young and knows nothing about horses. Plus it is 3yr old green mare that shouldn't even have a rider on her back yet since her spine is probably not done growing. It is a good horse that deserves a better family. It was a waste of the parents money, now she doesn't do anything with the poor horse since she lives in L.A.
My horse is really hard to back up. She is an ex race horse. Any tips on making her back up easily and softly?
Racehorse are trained to look straight ahead and only go forward, they are never taught how to back. so basically you will have to teach the horse how to be a horse again. Look into John Lyons or Clinton Anderson's training program, they train reining and show horse, but their methods for any horse no matter the discipline.
Is it good for the horse's tendons to trot on asphalt/pavement?
No it is not good, do to the fact all of the horses weight is put on his front hooves and that can transfer to pain in the tendons and ligaments. However is it different if you put non-slip hoof boots on the horse or if he has shoes.
