Do we have more link with our own horse or with a school horse, and why?
"I think with our own horse. When I used to only ride school ponys I thought I had a “bond” since I rode the same one every week. But I really didn’t understand what a bond was till I got my first pony in January. I began to feel the trust we got after every ride and every moment together. My pony was so scared of me when she first met me, she was with every new person. Never let me pick her hooves out, she’d just kick out and she’d never stand for me to get on her. Now? She never leaves me side when I’m with her, she picks her hooves up for me before I even ask, and I can get up on her bareback now. There’s no greater link then the time and effort spent with your own pony "
Would you rather stroke your horse when he refuses to jump or punish him, and why?
"I would never punish. Ugh I’ve seen videos of people at shows and their horse refuses and they just keep smacking the poor horse and Yank it’s mouth to turn them around. I could never to that. I think that teaches them that every jump could mean a smack and they’ll continue to refuse. Any horse I rode I would try talk with my voice. If they refuse I rub them and tell them it’s okay and turn around and try again and again , no matter how long it takes I want them to learn from it. Not put the fear in them. I want them to jump for fun not out of fear of doing something wrong and getting hit. "
Why are you for or against the racing industry? Personally I am against it but I want to hear some opposite opinions. :)
"@caoimhesweeney I understand that. And I know that basically anything can hurt the horse if it’s used in the wrong way. But I know that some horses work better with bitless and I would like to see it introduced for the some it works for. Thank you for pointing that out :)"
