On ponies do you need to gallop to the jump so they dont chip and they don't struggle?
Do you mean those "ponies" who are 14.3 or 15hh and need to make horse strides? For these ponies, you do have to push for a larger canter, but you still need impulsion and control.
My horse is limping and is on his toe. There's minimal swelling that goes down with walking. There's no heat or pulse and no reaction to touching or hoof testers
If there is no pain in the foot, you will not get a reaction from a hoof tester. I would start by cold hosing and stall rest for a few days. Add bute if you have it on hand. If there is no improvement I would get the vet out asap.
Best way to treat mud rash on a hairy legged cob? It's mostly scabs in her feathers that are impossible to get off
Shave the hair and use super rash cream. It softens the scabs so you can peel them off. Then use something with and antibiotic and fungicide once the scabs are gone.
I'm looking to buy a new helmet and a new vest, any brand suggestions? I was thinking Tipperary for the vest.
Tipperary vests are not certified, and do not even began to approch the levels of saftey needed to become BETA certified. If you want a vest that will actually keep you safer XC, Charles Owen has some that are BETA 2 and 3 certified.
