How can you stop a horse from giving a buck when asking to trot? I have brought my pony back into works after a month off, every time I ask her for trot she gives a buck and would stop sometimes.
She might be uncomfortable, having a month off she would have lost muscle and your saddle may no longer fit correctly
How do you keep your toes inward without rolling your ankle? Sounds weird but if I point my toe inward my ankle rolls out to the side. Anyone else have issues with this?
I have the same problem and it really hurts my ankles, you could try and turn your leg in from your knee but then I end up with really sore knees so that might not work for you either :( I think it might be to do with how your body sits together because I naturally have my toes pointed out in every day life too which sucks
Anyone got any good ways of cantering a circle ? My mare doesn’t always look the best, any tips on improving it ?
This is probably just due to weakness as cantering a circle can be quite difficult. I’d suggest ensuring your horse is comfortable and good at travelling in a circle in the lower paces first. Then bending and doing half circles or slight bends in the canter. gradually decrease the size you’re working with until it’s the circle you want but practise will be the best thing :) make sure you keep the Horse working straight around the circle though, like keeping its body and head in line if you are pulling the head around and simply letting the body follow this won’t be using the correct muscles and will be making it worse :) good luck hope this helps
Do you know how to know the weight of your horse ?
The vet will have scales so it can be weighed correctly. The ways suggested below can give you a rough idea but won’t be vary accurate. I have found the other ways can be around 50kgs off give or take :) which is still pretty accurate for a horse
