I'm doing freestyle reining and I need music, should I do upbeat pop songs or country or slow country? Please help.
Depends on your horses stride! Decide the pace you want for your freestyle and how you want your energy for your ride to be which really depends on your horses ability to have their pace changed, just find a song that's beat matched your horses stride!
How do i stop the horse from ducking his head while trotting?
Im assuming you mean pulling forward on the reins? My horse used to do that (still does sometimes) and for him I just push him forward, he can't engage his hind and push forward with his head down pulling on you and eventually your horse will figure it out
My saddle fits really well and sits really nicely on him, but it just wont stop slipping back. What can I do apart from wear a breastplate?
You can get thin gel grippy half pads that might help! I know presidents choice makes something that goes under the saddle pad itself but that might just be for saddle pads slipping, maybe pair that with a gel pad to stop both if you think that might help? Ecogold makes some really nice (but really expensive) half pads that can stop your saddle from slipping!
What are the negative effects of riding your horse without a saddle too often?
You're tail bones are sharp and your horses back is sensitive! I avoid riding bareback all together but I see the appeal, riding bareback too often can do some pretty sever back damage to your horse though, at least get a bareback pad if you're going to be doing it more then a handful of times a year
How do I get my heels downs more they always seem to slip
You don't need any fancy stirrups in order to get your heels down! Just practice like crazy! The more and more you work on yourself to keep them down it will become muscle memory and you won't even have to think about it while you ride
