Molly and her horse Lacey
My mare gets quite sore in the back, especially after a hard work out or when it's cold. she gets chiro work quite often and a special pad when riding. what else do you suggest?
Before you start more intense work, make sure your mare is warmed up and stretched out. Same with after your ride be sure you cool her out. Also massage her back as much as possible. Chiropractic work and acupuncture are good options as well:)
I've recently started riding a horse that has a sensitive mouth (means that I cannot ride with the reins as short as I am used to) but I naturally pull/shorten my reins.any ideas?
Start slow. I would begin with ground work. Getting your horse to trust you and figuring out your horse is very important, and if you really pay attention to your horse you can figure out how they react to those things. Mounted, I would you lots of seat and voice commands, that way you can tell your horse what to do without the bit. Make sure you are not nervous around the horse because that could be contributing. Hope this helps:)
what is your favourite brand for figure 8 bridles?
Cwd makes gorgeous bridles:)
Do you have any tip and trick to get the horse back in shape ?
Build up to work. Start by light hacking or even trail riding. Then progressively work your way up to building the hind end using transitions and working the topline. Once you've established this, try going over cavalleties or small jumps. But really stress the downward transitions! Hope this is helpful😊
