I'm looking to put my horse on a weight gain supplement. He's an off the track thoroughbred that won't keep the weight on. What supplements could I use that won't make him hot?
Just add cheap cooking oil. The cheapest will do. Pour a cup in his feed and he should start putting on weight quite quickly. Also getting a chiropractor to make sure there back is fine is a must. If one of the vertebrae close to the hips is out the gut won’t function properly
What breed do you think makes a good eventer?
Anything more than half thoroughbred. I have 5 thoroughbred eventers and they always go better than my friends crossbreeds. Also they are better riders than me. You can get a thoroughbred straight off the track and as long as you can deal with most stuff they are a great option
I always have trouble picking up my right lead. I am stronger at asking for the left lead so I always pick up the left lead while asking for the right lead. Do you have any tips?
Lift your inside rein a bit sink into the saddle and push from your tailbone into the front of the saddle. They pick up the lead a lot better with that
I have a horse with a low palate, I had him in a snaffle but as soon as I have started jumping he is pulling a lot, What type of bit would be recommended for him?
Try and find a myler or type of bit similar. They don’t have enough bend to put pressure on the palate. Avoid plain snaffles or short link French links as they will hit the palate
