Ask Pierre Fleury : How do you mentally (nervousness) prepare yourself for a large show or a small one?
Hello Margot,
I had a lot of troubles with nervousness at the beginning.
The problem with liberty shows is that there is no link. And at the beginning I was so stressed that it didn't work with my horses, they didn't have any landmark anymore.
I had to work on it, and tell myself 'it's just like at home', I relativise.
You have to know that your horse needs to trust you, you can't give your nervousness to them.
What will help you is to have a good preparation: go at the show earlier, see the ring...

Ask pierrefleury : how would you define your work compared to other artist's one?
Hello Duncan
First of all, the breed of my horses is very special, my philosophy too: even if it is liberty work people are starting to see that there are different ways to work.
I try to show more the relational aspect, there is performance too but I would rather communicate on the physical and mental wellness of my horses during shows, their serenity.

Ask pierrefleury : do you think good liberty work requires work under the saddle and vice versa?
Hello Molly,
Liberty work allow us to adapt our behavior to our horse. For some years I only worked on the relationship with my horses, after some accidents on their back. I put aside the physical work but there was a brake because my horses weren't comfortable at the 3 gaits.

Ask pierrefleury : how do you know a horse will be good to perform in your shows, with the audience...?
Hello Alexia,
Nothing is innate, when a horse is in a special contex (sound, light, crowd), he is always frightened. He needs to stay calm during shows, the fact that a horse is going to adapt quickly to this context is what makes him good. There are different tempers, and that is at this moment that we can detect their talent for shows.

Ask pierrefleury : do you need specific equipment for liberty work?
Hello Amy,
When it comes to equipment, I am not for the consumer society 😉 However there are some unmissable equipments: halter or rope halter, lead, sometime a bridle at the beginning of the work, a stick, sometimes saddle pads.
