I love horse showing and training programs for both the horse and rider!
What are your advice for competition nerves?😊😂
Hi Heidi! I used to get so nervous at shows that I would get sick before riding. Being more relaxed just comes with experience. The more shows I did, I became more comfortable with the routine and the environment. Just try to tough it out for a while until your body learns that the show is not a high-stress situation!
For those who have switched barns: how did you do it and what was the process like?
You definitely need to consider all your options before moving. Look at a couple other barns and compare to your current. If you do decide to leave try and leave on good terms so if you need to go back you can. The trick is to just keep all your options open
I want to fully clip my horse, but some people say that you shouldn’t clip the place where the saddle lies for protection. Is this true or does it not matter that much?
When I first imported my horse, they left both the saddle area and the spur area unclipped, but it didn’t do much. If your horse is prone to spur-rubs there are products to get to prevent those. Providing optimal protection in the saddle area will help prevent irritation. But I think it’s perfectly fine to full clip
How much would it cost to import a horse and does the cost go up for bigger horses?
Hey! I imported my guy February 2017 and I can tell you that the price is the same for the size of horses but you CAN get discounts if you import more than 1 horse. Shipping to the US is generally $7k-9k, depending on where your horse will arrive in the US and how many you import. Hope this helps!! :)
Have you ever had a horse that had diarrhea, and how did you handle it?
My guy has chronic diarrhea and I have been struggling to keep it away. It helps to have a good relationship and open communication with your vet and they can recommend things for you to try. I have tried probios, sand clear, apple cider vinegar, and other vet prescribed treatments. It really just depends on the horse. Hope this helped or gave you some things to try!
