I love horse showing and training programs for both the horse and rider!
When you are riding and your horse doesn’t listen to your leg or move forward at all, how can you fix it?
My horse used to be the same way. I did a TON of dressage flatwork with him, getting him to get softer through his whole body and respond to my aids. I also lunge in a neck stretcher, which helps him to move correctly and forward. Also, when riding, when he doesn’t respond to your aids, build up the tension in your legs, and if he doesn’t respond, tap him behind your leg with a stick. Hopefully this will get a reaction out of him and he will learn to move forward with a more subtle aid. Goodluck!!
Do you love eventing and why?
I am not a fan of eventing just because I don’t think the riders’ technique is very effective (especially when it comes to the horse). Eventing is extremely hard on the horse, I honestly dont know how eventers keep their horses sound. I know my opinion is probably unpopular but I just think the riders can be pretty average and ‘scary’ and get away with it :/
What is your favorite part of horse riding? Mine's that I get to ride in the mornings and the horses are really cuddlely and just want to nudge up to you and rub thier heads off you
I love every part of it, but if I had to choose it would be when you feel yourself connect with your horse and you truly feel like he’s with you and thinking exactly what you’re thinking. It is an unbeatable feeling to have with a horse. Nothing better than having them on your side 110% and both of you feeling the confidence
How often do you ride?
6 days a week, usually atleast 2-4 horses on the weekends
I am an equitation rider, I have a quite young horse and I would kind of like to try her in a pelham, is this a good idea?
If she is going well in her current bit, don’t change it. I know its tempting to get a pelham for the equitation but don’t get one unless you feel that you need the extra leverage. But since she’s so young, I would try getting her in an eq-type frame in a snaffle before getting a leverage bit
