What brand of tall boots are most recommended for quality but also affordable?
I love my dublin's, they have lasted years and are still going. A bit more on the expensive side is the tuscany's but they're totally worth it, I actually have a pair for sale currently😉
What should you do if your horse throws a shoe? My farrier won't be able to make it until early next week.
Whenever my thoroughbred with super sensitive feet pulls a shoe I pack his foot with poultice, vet wrap/duct tape it and he's good until the farrier comes.
Do you know exercises to get a horse off of his front end and use his back and hind end?
Lateral work has done wonders for my horse, exercises such as leg yield, haunches in, shoulder in, etc. But always have forward movement, think impulsion, not speed. Also try lots of transitions, working from walk to halt, walk-trot-halt, etc.
Do you have any tips for teaching my green horse to come onto the bit and frame?
You want to have a forward movement so that the horse uses its hind end and comes up to the bridle. Try some lateral work like leg yield to get the horse to engage its hind end. Flexing and bending help a lot too, like getting the horse to just tip its nose slightly in and moving forward so the horse wants to lower its head in to a natural frame
