I live in Minnesota I have been eventing for 2 years! My lease horses name is "Rosa Lady" or "Rosa" She is a 16.1 hh. Hanoverian she is 16🐴I have done a few jumper shows in the past but I mainly event!I hope you enjoy!
How do you keep your eyes up rather than looking down at jumps?
When you are about to go over the jump try finding a place on the wall to stare at like a scratch or chip.If you are out side look at a leaf, tree or even just a fence post.Hopefully this helped!
So as I go up to bigger fences I tend to jump up my horses neck? Any tips? Also my shoulders tend to slouch around turns while cantering...
This used to happen to me all the time,to the point of where I would be hanging on for dear life.😂So to help this I put my heals down very far and forward so you have to sit back and it basically forces you to stay back.Hopefully this helped!
Any tips for calming a spooky horse?
Before you ride you can walk him around the arena to show that everything is ok.You could also go on trails or do excersizes using tarps, bags, or you could even make loud noises to get them used to that.Hopefully this helped!
How often should you put hoof polish on your horses hoofs?
In the winter I put hoof polish on once a week.It really helped my mare with certain hoof problems like:Cracked,Dry sumtimes even soft and mushy! It also depends on the climate of your environment. If it is hot and dry for a while then gets rainy and muddy then the horses hooves might get soft and the hoof polish really helps with that.If it's really muddy then all of a sudden gets hot and dry then hoof polish helps the hoof stay moist and healthy. You should keep the horses condition of the hoof in mind also.So you are not using to much or to little.Hopefully this helped!
Best brands of competition breeches? Ideally slim fitting and not too long in the leg.
Personally I think Ariat has really good show breeches also I agree that Tailored Sportsmans are amazing!I have to pairs of Tailored Sportsmans and one Ariat pair. They both last a long time and don't fall apart. They look really nice in the show ring to.I would definitely recommend both brands.Hopefully this helped!
Does anybody know a good (affordable) saddle brand recommendation?
I would say Wintec is a pretty good brand.Very cheap and affordable.Wintec sells Dressage and jump saddles. We have a few at are barn that are in great shape and have been there for 5 years!Hopefully this helped!
My mare has a really hard time going down centerline straight. She becomes a worm. I keep even contact on both reins and use my legs to keep her straight. It's like she ignores me. What do you suggest?
Keep your hands steady but don't pull back on the reins.I would use spurs,a dressage whip would work.If she still ignores you then get a stronger bit and be more aggressive with her.Has she always ignored you like this?Hopefully this helped!
