What lateral movement do you find the hardest to do?
I usually do holding a straight line with the horses head bent either way. Then if they’re soft I’ll start moving their shoulders the opposite way their head is turned. Sometimes if they haven’t been worked with or warmed up correctly I find that harder to do.
A horse I work with is terrified of water. I’ve been able to lead him toward puddles, which is a large improvement. However, he still hates going through them and rain... Have you got any tips?
Just keep doing it I suppose. Horses don’t have depth precision like we do so puddles or some bodies of water they can’t tell how deep it is. They don’t know if its 3 feet deep or if it’s only several inches, centimetres deep. Especially with puddles because of how murky and mucky they can be.
